Empowering Rural Women: COSUMAR Supports the 6th Edition of the “Lalla Al Moutaaouina” Award

As a longstanding partner of the “Lalla Al Moutaaouina” National Award, COSUMAR proudly took part in its 6th edition.
This award, organized by the Office for the Development of Cooperation (ODCO) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, aims to encourage the initiatives of women-led cooperatives in rural areas.
During the award ceremony held on April 15, 2025, at the State Secretariat for Traditional Industry, Social and Solidarity Economy in Rabat, COSUMAR reaffirmed its commitment to women’s empowerment in rural areas through its CSR strategy by sponsoring the “ASSALAM” cooperative, based in Douar Ouled Boumat, Lehgagcha commune, in the Sidi Bennour province. This cooperative brings together 12 women.
ASSALAM specializes in traditional sewing, embroidery, and wool weaving, and aims to further develop sheep wool into clothing products while incorporating modern touches such as precious stones in its designs.
Thanks to COSUMAR’s financial support, the cooperative will be able to invest in new machinery to expand its operations.
Since 2019, COSUMAR has been supporting 11 rural cooperatives, as part of its broader commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.
